Cierra Redding is a sculpturist studying her Masters of Fine Arts degree at New Mexico State University. A Western Colorado University alumni, with a diverse professional artistic experience, as well as a portfolio of varied mediums and accomplishments; including a working thesis, exhibitions, curatorial work, and academic achievements. Born with a rare chronic eye condition called Nystagmus, a visual impairment in which the eyes make constant, uncontrolled movements, that never stop, is what inspires her to create. These movements result in reduced vision and depth perception as well as affecting balance and coordination. With this condition, she is left with the constant sensation of the world around her infinitely shifting.  Cierra’s Master's studies transform her visual experience and interpretation of the world into the language of sculpture. 

 

Aspiring teacher in art Cierra possesses a strong sense of philosophy and critical thinking, which is constantly displayed across all of her work. She is a competent and hardworking artist who is capable of creative insight with an unlimited range of unique ideas, theories, and fascinations through various artistic mediums.
